A Hinds huddle | NZC

Not this year for Hinds

Last season's surprise Grand Finalist the Central Hinds have become the first team to be formally knocked out of contention for this year's Dream11 Super Smash title, after no toss or play was possible in their rain-ruined away fixture against Northern Brave at Seddon Park.

The rematch between last summer's Elimination Finalists - at the same ground - sadly dissolved into a damp squib, ruining what would have been a final appearance this season by the women's top run-scorer, Hollie Armitage (likely to be overtaken any minute by Melie Kerr in the charts).

The strong England pro has been exceptional for Central agains this summer and racked up her 150th t20 match in the process, but Armitage was only available for the team's first eight rounds, and now returns to South Australia to continue her season in Australia's women's one-day domestic competition.

The Hinds have two rounds remaining, and will be keen to add to their lonely win - against the Magicians, whom they will play again in Christchurch, to try to avoid the wooden spoon.
