Battle of the Boyles!

Two Boyle brothers in the men's Dream11 Super Smash batting top four batters is a gold standard sibling rivalry alert.

Until yesterday, Matt Boyle (Canterbury Kings) was the leading Dream11 Super Smash run-scorer in the men's comp this summer with 136 runs early doors, but older bro Jack Boyle (Central Stags) was having none of that.

In the T20 form of his life, Jack (above) went out and smashed his game-changing T20 career best 77 off just 43 balls against the Firebirds yesterday to knock Matt off his number one perch.

It was 28-year-old Jack's second T20 half century in just four games this season, and the fourth of his overall T20 career - having also belted a T20 half ton for the Stags at the Basin against the Firebirds last summer, just like he did yesterday.

Both Boyle brothers have been in cracking form in all formats in 2024/25.

Matt is coming off his maiden T20 half ton, an unbeaten 81* off just 51 balls against the Otago Volts at Hagley Oval a few days ago, as the Canterbury Kings head into another big game at Hagley today - against the Auckland Aces (5.55pm NZT, under lights).

So the batting lead could change hands yet again and keep an eye out for the big Stags-Kings match under lights at McLean Park next Friday (17 Jan) in Napier where we could well see the bros going head to head in a battle of the batting Boyles!

For the record, the current men's batting tallies ahead of the game are as follows:

JACK Boyle | Central Stags - 162 runs from 4 games

TOM Bruce | Central Stags - 151 runs from 4 games

TIM Robinson | Wellington Firebirds - 146 runs from 2 games

MATT Boyle | Canterbury Kings - 136 runs from 3 games
