Australian superstar signs with defending champions

Wellington's Blaze just got hotter with Australia's great Ellyse Perry crossing the Tasman for her first Dream11 Super Smash appearances.

A veteran of 134 Women's Big Bash games, 17 Women's IPL caps, 11 Kia Super League matches, 14 appearances in The Hundred and 162 T20 Internationals for Australia is heading to New Zealand for a short-term deal with the defending champions in the women's Dream11 Super Smash.

Perry will feature in the first two rounds of Blaze's defence, against Northern Brave in Hamilton on New Year's Day, and in Nelson at Saxton Oval against last year's beaten finalist the Central Hinds on Saturday, 4 January - a rematch of the 2024 Grand Final.

Perry recently featured at the Cello Basin Reserve where Australia reclaimed the one-day Rose Bowl against the WHITE FERNS with a 2-0 series sweep.

The right-hand legend's signing will give a boost to a Blaze side looking to retain their title, having won the competition by one run [DLS] in last season’s Final.

Perry will depart the Blaze for the Women’s Ashes series and her stint will help her prepare for that mammoth series that features three ODIs, three T20s and a Test match.

The Blaze’s full squad for their 2024/25 Super Smash opener will be announced tomorrow.
