These two legends!

Katey Martin didn't have to do much as her 100th T20 cap for the Otago Sparks went almost completely to plan.

The veteran Otago Sparks keeper-batter and first drop sat padded up enjoying the show as the Sparks' two openers, captain Suzie Bates and Polly Inglis, did the job for her - executing a thumping 10-wicket away win over the Auckland Hearts.

The Hearts had a special occasion of their own that they had been hoping to celebrate, Katie Perkins playing her 100th Dream11 Super Smash match for Auckland (159 games in her overall T20 career) as Martin - Otago's most capped player across both men's and women's cricket formats - chalked up her 100th for Otago (210 T20s overall).

Hearts captain Lauren Down had won the toss and batted, and got her side off to a good start with a 59-run stand with "Perky" herself.

The pair batted into the 10th over without loss and were gathering momentum before Hayley Jensen suddenly fought back with a double strike - Perkins caught by Bates on 23 and then new batter young Izzy Gaze trapped very next ball.

Holly Huddleston and Down rebuilt for a few overs before another big wicket, this time Down caught behind off leg-spinner Sophie Oldershaw right on the cusp of a half century.

At 81/3 at the three-quarter mark, the Hearts were still in a good position to attack at the death, but another brace of quick wickets helped the Sparks put the squeeze on right when it mattered.

The Sparks were looking to close the gap on new ladder leaders the Wellington Blaze in this round, with the race on to secure direct entry to the Grand Final - and the Blaze with a couple of rounds in hand.

They did their job well with the ball, holding the hosts to 106/6 at Kennards, and Martin getting a stumping and catch to mark her matchday - then the side blew the Hearts off the park with the bat.

Huddleston conceded just eight runs off her two overs and was treated with due respect.

But Suzie Bates (40 not out off 40 balls) and Polly Inglis (61 not out off 58 balls) were in charge, and cruised all the way to the finish line - ticking off the chase with almost four overs to spare.
